I had the great pleasure of knowing and spending time with Anne in our earlier school years.  We shared many happy hours at her family’s cabin, snowshoeing in the winter and lazing on a raft or swinging in hammocks during the summers.  I think many would remember Ann as a very reserved and quiet girl.  Though she was dearly loved and doted on by her parents,  I always felt that she led a rather restricted life.  I was then very pleased to see how she had changed when she visited me shortly before the car accident which claimed her life in 1971.  I was surprised to see her wearing makeup and stylish clothes.  She spoke happily of the life she was leading as a nurse in Vernon, having her own apartment, a boyfriend, a car and her independence.  She seemed so much more self assured but hadn’t lost the sweetness and kindness that made her such a special person.
