Very sorry to hear of Don's passing. I remember him as a gentle and very nice young man. His parents gave me my first real job as a "bus boy" and later as a server in their bus depot restaurant and the special dining area downstairs. While I eventually had other summer work, I would always be allowed to work a casual shift or two through high school.. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wonderful sister Betty-Ann, and the entire Rivers family. He will be missed.

My  condolences to Don's family and friends. Don and I shared an apartment during my fourth year at UBC and had such a great time together.  He had a wonderful sense of humour and so much energy and love of life

Very Sad to hear of Don's passing.  I remember him in school.  Also, he lived a couple of blocks up Silica from where I grew up. He apparently did very well becoming a school teacher.  Don Rivers was very well known in Nelson and it's very sad that another one of our Nelson boys has passed.  My heart goes out to his sisters, Betty Ann, Gloria and brother, David.  Also to his own wife, children and a granddaugher.  Of course to his many friends.  He will be missed by so many.  Rest in Peace Don.

Don (nicknamed Pierre) was such a good natured, positive guy.  Good teacher and friend.  Too bad his last years were difficult, both for him and his family.  He loved his summer home in Balfour and coming back to Nelson. Thoughts are with Candy and his family.

Thank you for your kind comments about my older brother Don.  Don was a wonderful brother. We shared many interests, all through our lives since early childhood.  He was a skilled outdoorsman, well- read and very musical, playing a few instruments by note and by ear.  With his wife Candy and three kids, they continued skiing, boating, hiking and many interests in community and the arts.  An online service for Don will be held Friday, March 5th 1 pm Mountain Time Zone  (with only 10 people actually allowed to attend in person, all others online, during this Covid time).  Information and Don's obituary is on Cranbrook's McPherson Funeral Services.   Again, his family and I appreciate your thoughtful remembrances.  Betty Anne

We were deeply saddened to hear of Don's passing..  He was a good, honest and truely reliable friend.  Following the reunion in 2013, my wife and I were fortunate to meet Don and Candy in Cranbrook on a few occasions while visiting family there. Our sincerest condolences to all of Don's family and friends.
