In Memory

Ken Armstrong

Ken died from metastatic melanoma of the brain and lungs on September 19, 2015 at the age of 69.

Ken was a hard working, workaholic, just in the process of starting retirement after beating his first bout of cancer when 9 months later it struck again.  There was no chance of recovery this time as he was diagnosed as terminal (from a brain bleed during radiation) and passed away 2 months later with his loving family at his side.

He will sadly be missed by Pat (nee Cutler), his loving wife of 48 years, son, Shawn (Racheal), daughter Jody (Dave) and the pride and joy of his life, his four grandchildren, Michael (23), Kevin (21), Kristina (19) and Jordan (8).

I'm so saddened to hear of Ken's passing.  I remember him so well when he and a bunch of other kids as well as myself would pile into Herb Harrop's old station wagon and all get taken up to ride his horses every Saturday and Sunday.  Those were good times.  Ken was always so helpful for some of us that had problems climbing up on the horses.  The horse that I rode was very tall and had a terrible bony back so he helped until I had gotten used to Laddy.  Then when we took the horses up to the top pasture to leave them for the week, I had to keep the saddle on Laddy and ken helped me with it until I learned how to saddle the horse and then take the saddle off.  He was full of life but a gentleman just the same.  When I heard that Ken and Pat married, I couldn't have considered a better fit.  Pat, you and your children are in my thoughts and prayers.  I'm so sorry for the suffering that he must have gone through with the cancer.  Ken was always one of my better memories.

All the best

I am sorry to hear of Ken's passing.  I too remember his kindness when we went to Harrop to ride.  We had some great times up there...even if I fell off a lot.  My condolences to Pat and his family.
