In Memory

Ted Ryan

This is a very sad and difficult 'In Memory' posting for me.  Ted was one of our reunion committee members, a driving force in getting the best music and bands for our reunions, always a big smile and lots of laughs.  We will truly miss you Ted💕.   The reunion committee extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to Carol and family.  We love you Ted, Rest In Peace💕.<>>

I am so saddened to read of Ted’s passing! Words cannot describe the emotions I have personally felt today while pondering the many years I’ve known Ted, since we first met in 1954 in third grade. Ted’s friendship over the years has truly meant a lot!

I can’t imagine the sense of loss Ted’s wife and family must feel over his passing! I remember those early years as teens when Ted and Carol fell in love. Then there were trips to Nakusp we’d make in his mother’s borrowed car for Ted to visit the girl he’s loved until now. He’s always been a proud husband and father! What a duo he and Carol made as life partners and as realtors!

I truly value Ted and the years we shared growing up in Nelson. Ted and I not only were from a small class of less than twenty students from 1954-61 at Saint Joseph’s, but lived three doors apart on one of Nelson’s smallest streets, McHardy in our later teen years.

His effervescent presence will be truly missed in that city as many like myself come and go annually on visits to our hometown. Fortunately, again in June this year, I had a visit to Nelson and saw Ted and Carol! Rest In Peace, Ted! Thank you for your friendship!  Sending much love to Carol and the family!

I was truly shocked when I learned about Ted's passing. Ted was the first person I made friends with when I enrolled at L.V. Rogers after moving to Nelson from Slocan. After graduation we stayed friends and after he married Carol and I got married we played bridge and socialized frequently and after we had children, the kids played together. We remained friends to this day, although I moved to Kelowna and saw him only briefly over the last 25 years. Ted and I played fastball together, entered car rallies ( he was a superb navigator), skied together, golfed and travelled to Asia.

He was truly a great person and he will be missed. Condolences to Carol, Jennifer, Sheila, Brock and the rest of   the family.
Rest In Peace

We just did an enjoyable18 holes at Balfour followed by dinner at Ted and Carols.  Lots of laughs and the retelling of stories from LV Rogers days. (they get more interesting as time passes)  Ted was the prime mover for many ski and golf days and the chance to demonstrate his pool skills (early in the evening)

Ted will be missed by so many people but most acutely by Carol and the kids.  I'm thinking of you Carol and hope the sense of loss passes over time.

Ted was a bundle of fun. My favourite recollection of him was when he was President of the CYO. (Catholic Youth Organization). As I recall, Father Lynch was our sponsor at that time.  Largely due to Ted’s enthusiasm, numerous fun filled activities for our group of teens were planned, organized and successfully completed.  We had so much fun over 2 years that soon non-Catholic kids were clamouring go join, which they did. As time went on he always was at the forefront of so many activities. He will be missed.  Condolences to his family.
